Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

My first time here, I order a salad and was fresh and delicious. The roof is nice and everything is very clean.

I don't know if it's a trend or something, but pizza has ARRIVED in West Chester. Couch Tomato answered the siren call of a late afternoon pizza craving with a long wait for a single slice of pizza that was rewarded with a lovely rooftop view! The food served at Couch Tomato is alright, but nothing that you'll day dream about on your way home from work on Friday. I've been there twice and the food reminded me of a pizza version of Panera Bread Co. The food was satisfying, but definitely a little too pricey for what I got. The first time I went I got a panini that was good enough, but short on flavor & the second time I got a slice of buffalo chicken pizza that was lukewarm when I got it. Sandwiches and pizza were both good and not great. The wait was long too, but the rooftop is lovely and Couch Tomato, while its definitely not my destination for life changing food, is a decent pick for salacious conversations with rowdy (but not too hungry) friends. CONCLUSION: West Chester's own pizza Panera quality: satisfies, but doesnt stun. price: again, think Panera bread... a little over priced, but no tears will be shed

Great little place down town to grab a nice bite to eat. The staff was friendly and the establishment itself was very very clean. However, don't go before 1pm. They have a lot of prep work to do and one time I waited for almost 45 minutes. They don't post the menu anywhere so make sure you grab a menu on the way in to avoid embarrassment looking around and asking where it is! I got a grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was delicious. The bread had the texture of corn bread but didn't taste like it (hopefully that makes sense). Portion sizes were very fair and they have a great place to sit outside on the roof! Give it a go!

I have yet to be disappointed from the folks at The Couch Tomato. I've had pizza, salads, soups, and breadsticks and it's all good! My most recent visit over the weekend consisted of pepperoni cheesy breadsticks, the Fig'in Burrata Pizza and Short Rib Pizza. I would say hold the arugula on the Short Rib pizza but other than that, everything was perfect! The staff is also very friendly and helpful whenever I visit the store or call in an order.

Something new and different to the borough finally! WC has a ton of great restaurants but many mirror one another in cuisine and design. The couch tomato cafe is Vegetarian friendly and have gluten free options. Place your order and they bring it to your table when ready. If you want to kill time, stare at the cool New Hope soda machine and ponder how such good tasting colas can be zero calories without chemicals! The food is organic and apparently it's a BYOB. This will be clutch when the temperature exceeds 20 degrees and I can dine on the beautiful rooftop soon enough! Atmosphere is very cute, keywords : exposed brick. The very long couch resembles a tomato, ironic, don't ya think? The staff were all outgoing and helpful with ordering. We tried a sandwich, salad, soup and a slice of pizza. The focaccia, was splendid...fresh dense and flavorful. The margherita pizza was kind of bland but the other items made up for the unimpressive slice. The salad had quinoa...awesome. I left impressed by this place and I look forward to trying many more items in the near future! Welcome to West Chester Couch Tomato!!

I ordered a panini from here that took quite a long time to make but it was delicious! One of the employees told the manager how long I was waiting for my order and she came over and talked to me and my family, she was so friendly and sincere about the wait. I'd have to say that the workers there really do care about your experience! She didn't need to do anything to make it up to me but she went ahead and give brownies and cookies to my family members that were with me. If someone could show this to her at the shop, I'd greatly appreciate it and look forward to coming back for more!! I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend, I hope you enjoy!

My son & I often order from grub hub on a lazy day- this restaurant was new to us. With the ratings - we decided to give it a try. I was so excited to try this pizza! All I can say is neither my son nor I could even finish a slice! It was like eating cardboard, I also ordered the med platter - watery flavorless hummus - ranch dressing and fried cold dough balls? Worst $30 I ever spent. Who is writing their reviews? I would have rather had any other slice of pizza in wc. I'm now re-heating lastnights' meatballs (I made) so my son doesn't starve.

They have good local flavored cola and the salads looked appetizing. I made the mistake of ordering a Stromboli the first time I ate there. NEVER AGAIN. The Stromboli had so much oil in the middle it looked like a bowl of soup. Not good.

This is sad because it should have great. I went in Saturday night. I ordered a large pepperoni with extra pepperoni well done, lite sauce. And a Cesar salad with sodas. I love the New Hope Sodas. The Cesar was great, fresh really good dressing but the croutons were stale. Yuck! Ruined it. The pizza, single pepperoni (I was charged for double) not well done and more sauce then I like. The ingredients were great. But when they are not put together properly who cares. No one came over to ask how it was. We were the only people there. Poor management is my conclusion . Should have been great so I'm doubly disappointed .

The Couch Tomato Cafe and I have a long history as I lived in Manayunk for a time. I'm thrilled they opened their 2nd location in West Chester. Their thin crust pizza is AMAZING, their salads are hearty, healthy, and fresh, and the smokehouse may be the best sandwich on the planet. Try any salad with candied pecans, the organic wheat or gluten free pizza crust, any of their signature soups (we're big fans of the Tomato Basil, Crab Bisque, and Southwest Chicken) and finish it off with a maddie bar and you're set to go! Been once since they opened and the food and service is equally as good, if not better than the Manayunk location. I'm happy I no longer have to drive 40 minutes for food from The Couch Tomato. Also, West Chester needed a good thin crust pizza place. Sign up for tomato points, get coupons, and try it out, you will love it! Plus it's BYOB!!!

I was delighted to hear that Couch Tomato was opening in West Chester as we frequently ordered take out from the Manayunk location when we lived there. The quality and service are great. We really enjoy the food - the healthy options of salads and more tasty options of pizza and soups. I only wish it was more reasonably priced. Will be a devoted customer of the West Chester location.

I hate writing bad reviews, but when you spend $25 on a disappointing meal you've gotta release somehow right? I absolutely LOVED couch tomato 6 months ago when it first opened. But my last couple of orders just left me disappointed and angry. I ordered a sandwich with: Turkey, Turkey Bacon, Roasted Red Pepper Spread, Caramelized Onions and Cheddar Cheese. I literally picked through the entire sandwich looking for the cheese. (Still not convinced there was any on there). Also, red pepper spread? The only evidence that there was any spread was actual reminents of some peppers on the bread. Other than that it was undoubtedly the DRIEST sandwich I have ever eaten. I'm talking like I almost choked dry. Next, I ordered a Margarita Pizza on Gluten Free Crust. I love the GF crust here only sometimes, when it's prepared nicely. Not only was the crust completely soggy, but there was enough sauce on the pizza for a whole 'nother pizza! To top it off both items were cold upon arrival. I shouldn't have to heat up my delivery food, especially when I'm only a couple of blocks away. Needless to say, I just want my money back and this love/hate relationship to be over for good. Never Again

This might be my new favorite place to eat in uptown West Chester. I tried several of their salads, and was happy each time. You can either order a salad designed by their chefs, or build your own. You can do the same with pizzas and sandwiches. Many of their ingredients are organic, and several are GMO and gluten-free. They have a number of vegetarian and vegan options. The service is fast and accurate, and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend eating here.

Cons: I had high expectations for this place, which I feel bad about after the fact. The place is nice, but the food is very standard. The pizza is your basic strip mall pie with fancy ingredients. The salads are decent. The service needs some work, do to just opening (they have signs saying this). Pros: We came in with ten people and a case of beer. Had a blast and only spent $80. Summary: If your looking for good pizza, order from Americas Pie down the street. If your looking for a nice before drinking spot, grab a six pack and head to couch tomato. Youll have a good time and not blow your wallet.

Ok, so I may give this another go in the future but first impressions are, you know... I ordered take out and asked for the dirty bird but unfortunately received someone else's custom sandwich considering what I received isn't even a menu item. It was too late to go back since they were closed by the time I realized so I just dealt with it and ate the sandwich. The sandwich I got was chicken, cheddar, tomato, and bacon. It really wasn't good, more like tolerable. While the chicken is apparently fresh all natural, it is more so the prepared strips like you find in the grocery store or Panera? Bread was good but that's about it. Maybe the salads or pizza are better? Not sure if I'm willing to find out.
(2)Jill R.
Seriously, SO GOOD! My BBQ chicken pizza is always delicious and I love the healthy options - especially the New Hope soda fountain!
(5)Dan D.
Absolutely delicious. They have the best salads with faccasia bread, and I'm not someone who normally would order A salad when I go out to eat. The sandwiches and pizza are amazing too. Even though soup is tasty and different (strawberry soup with pound cake croutons). One of my absolute favorite places to go for takeout.
(5)Morgan F.
Idk what the hype is about this place. Food tasted like a little kid made it in a hurry and the service was rude and slow.
(1)Sharon D.
Great restaurant! Love their pizza and love how you can create your own salad. Lots of fresh healthy ingredients. Double bonus is if you save your receipt you get 15% off Gemelli's.
(5)Jenna B.
I really enjoy this place. Their Caesar salad is my favorite and it is my new go-to lunch spot.
(5)Kelly D.
Fresh, tasty and casual... love the food here. I've dined in and taken out - everything has been good every time. Check it out!
(5)Jae R.
If you're not a pizza person, order the food pyramid salad. It's not your average salad by any means (candied pecans and strawberries). I'm normally not a soda drinker, but have one every time I visit here - they are all natural and from a local distributor. If the weather is fair, eat outside upstairs on the roof deck!
(5)Caitlin S.
I am so happy they added a West Chester location directly across from my office! I have already been to the West Chester location a ton since the new location has opened and I absolutely love their salads - I usually get falafel in mine and the Cucumber Wasabi dressing. It is the perfect combo! I wish they had a salad with Falafel in it because I wouldn't have noticed it unless my co-worked pointed it out to me. Plus, adding your own ingredients to salad can get a little pricey (but completely worth it!) Also, the Grilled Cheese & Tomato Bisque combo is beyond amazing.
(4)E L.
Food is good (although a little expensive) but the experience is great. The roof is amazing!! Great atmosphere and BYOB!
(4)Charlie J.
Fresh and delicious pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. I'd recommend anything here really. The service is good now and the restaurant is always clean. You can also sit outside on their rooftop which is nice. A cool thing about this place is that they have a special brand of sodas that uses cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. A good place to pick healthier options for those of you on a diet or getting back on the wagon.
(4)Jenn H.
I love everything about this place. The food, the roof deck, the fact that they deliver, their staff, it's a package deal! The kickin' chicken sandwich is my soul food.
(5)Ed I.
Upgrading to 5 stars after most recent visit. I held back on the 5th star because of delays/confusion getting the food. They solved this problem. After ordering we went up to the deck. When the food was ready we could clearly hear our name over the PA system. Small issue but they fixed it. Bravo!!!
(5)Chris B.
Nice food, nice area, nice roof-deck. Perfect in the summer. Even more perfect serving Dogfish Head beer now.
(5)L C.
Finally a great place for vegan pizza in West Chester. Awesome options like Daiya cheese and seitan "chicken" to go on your pizza and salads. The BYOB is a nice plus. And you can really feel good about the salad choices which include arugula and organic spinach - no piles of iceberg lettuce here! Friendly service too.
(5)Leah H.
I've been to the Manayunk and West Chester locations and don't find any difference between the two. Great food, well-priced...always satisfied when I come into the Couch Tomato.
(4)Mary Ann U.
I loved the Couch Tomato when I worked in Manayunk. Last week four of us had dinner in West Chester. The Waldorf salad was as delicious as I remembered. Sadly the 'roll' wasn't. It wasn't a roll and it was VERY STALE. The dessert was cold and dry. We may return again but I'll check for freshness.

The Couch Tomato in West Chester is Amazing! The roof deck is beyond beautiful with a great view of the street and it's BYOB, what more could you ask for?! My boyfriend and I share the buffalo chicken pizza with white calorie cruncher crust (just to get the extra crispy crust) and the Mediterranean hummus platter with home made hummus, feta, tomatoes, cucumber and olive tapenade. It's the perfect pairing and a great place for an outdoor lunch!
(5)Chris N.
We needed to get a quick dinner in West Chester while it was getting late. Got in just before closing. The outdoor seating was closed because it had rained earlier in the day. The atmosphere inside on the tomato-colored couch was ok, though a bit commercial. I had the vegetarian pizza with gluten-free crust & it was much better than most commercial places (though not as good as the one from my favorite place in my home town), not too cheesy or greasy & a good variety of veggies on top. My partner's Margherita was just ok, the tomotaoes were a bit bland, but otherwise not bad. Nice to have soda fountain options other than the standard corn-syrup filled sodas, though the ice tea is bottled (and sweatened).

So glad the Couch Tomato came to West Chester! We had our first meal tonight. Two pizzas and a salad. Their wheat and gluten free pizzas are amazing! So fresh and vibrant favors.
(5)Kevin M.
Cozy atmosphere and great food. Will definitely go back! Exotic pizzas are cool. Loved the local root beer.
(5)Jay G.
Long line at the register. Not a fan of the self serve mayhem to order. No table service and just a chaotic and way confused experience. It's a BYO which is nice but staff had to leave the register to hunt up wine glasses. Eating on crappy paper plates with cheap plastic really sucks. That sealed the deal about not coming back. Oh yeah. The pizza was just fair. The crust was soggy in pepperoni grease and the Caesar salad had a glop of egg salad on it with tasteless dressing on the side. And no parking. Lots of better places in and around WC.

The Couch Tomato is a great addition to West Chester's casual dining scene. I am gluten free, so when I saw they had GF pizza, I was happily surprised. The quality of the GF pizza in town is lacking but this pizza is delicious. Make your own from fresh ingredients and voila! We also tried their salads, which we HUGE and also really fresh and tasty. But the best thing about this place is the customer service. We were given the A-List treatment and really felt special. We will definitely be back for some pizza salad and refreshing organic soda!
(5)Cati S.
We love this addition to West Chester. It's a nice, casual place to grab some fantastic pizza and lovely salads. Our favorite pizza is the American pie- white pizza with garlic aioli, a honey drizzle, tomatoes, and rosemary. We also love the Santorini salad of arugula, feta, quinoa blend, and a refreshing lemon vinaigrette. This is highly recommended for a low key meal of great food made with beautiful ingredients. Also, almost as tasty as byob'ing (which they do allow) is enjoying one of the natural cane sugar sodas from the fountain. We recommend the birch beer- yum!

I came here while visiting the area for a wedding a couple weeks ago and just had to write about how helpful one of the employees was here! I didn't catch her name, but I inquired about whether or not the gluten-free pizza crust was vegan (it's not, it contains egg) and as I was leaving the women ran after me. She explained that she could give me a copy of the allergens list and there was plenty more I could eat there, she went over the list with me and I ended up getting an amazing salad with their gluten-free vegan felafel, avocado, onion, and almonds. It was really delicious. My fiance got a pizza which was smaller than anticipated but was pretty good. The salad dressing wasn't great but oh well. I have a hard time eating at places with my dietary restrictions and was so excited to eat here and loved how helpful and knowledgeable the staff was.

They're new in West Chester, so I will admit, they are still working out some of the kinks, and they have messed up an order. I have been to the Manayunk one a good amount of times previously myself, and the stuff is the same. The food is very good, especially the tomato bisque soup and balsamic dressing on salad is very good. Couch club is pretty good too. I would actually say, though the pizza is interesting, you're better off with the specialty pizzas if you're wanting pizza (regular pizza isn't quite as good as some of the stuff like hot and tangy pizza). The best part is really everything is fresh, so if you get mushrooms on your pizza as a topping, it's fresh mushrooms, so it tastes better than average toppings.

So many good things are coming to downtown West Chester, and the Couch Tomato is definitely one of them! The pizza is solid and the salads are fresh and delicious. I was looking forward to the long awaited opening and was happy when it finally came! It has a cool look to it inside as well and I am definitely looking forward to when the rooftop opens later this spring. The owner/manager (?) was even kind enough to let me get a sneak peak of the rooftop when i asked her if I could check it out. I'll definitely be back!
(4)Deb B.
There were so many wrongs in my first experience with Couch Tomato. I called for a delivery since they advertised that they delivered within a 4 mile radius. I was placed on hold and talked to 2 different people before they took my order. In the meantime I was told that I was outside their delivery radius (3.2 miles away). I gave my order and what arrived was not my order. Their "add egg to a salad" is a scoop of egg salad, and I ordered carrots but received croutons that were soggy. The manager included free dessert as a peace offering, but really? Major customer service overhaul needed. She told me not to expect delivery on a Friday or Saturday. Really?
